This year’s AGM took place in the Union Jack Club at Sandell Street London on Saturday 27th November from 1100 in the Gascoigne Room.  This is on the lower ground floor. There is a staircase downwards but arrangements can be made for anyone needing disabled access.  All facilities are on hand to ensure a comfortable visit. As Sandell Street is across the road from Waterloo Station it should be particularly easy for anyone travelling by train or tube. Car parking in the vicinity is limited.

After the AGM, the Book launch of the 2nd Edition of MINEFIELD took place. The book was on sale at the reduced price £20 (without postal charges).

The cost of the AGM was £15 per head, to include coffee on arrival at 10 – 10.30am, buffet lunch with the opportunity to meet friends, old and new, and tea or coffee before departure.

Book Launch for MINEFIELD 2nd edition

Adrian Fewins and several Committee members have been working for many months to complete the 2nd edition of "Minefield". We have reached the stage where we can say with confidence that it will be printed in time for the AGM in the Union Jack Club on Saturday November 27th.  Over 440 casualties are covered in the book and it includes the details of each man's age, parents names, wife's name, home town and a paragraph or two of information supplied by relatives. In all 367 casualty photos are included.  It has been a massive task. The book is split into sections covering the various departments - Officers, Seamen, Artificers, Stokers, Royal Marines, Supply, Communications & Wiremen. There is a large section about Kandahar and her crew with several eye-witness accounts. The size of the book will be 250 pages and will cost £20 (plus £2.50 p & p). Many members have paid in advance for the book and we thank you for your patience. Those who have paid in advance will not be affected by the increase in price.

When Nixie Taverner’s book Neptune’s Legacy was published in 2003, we had 83 photographs of casualties. All photos were scanned again to produce higher quality images and when the 1st edition of Adrian's book Minefield was published in 2007, this total had risen to 202 photos of casualties. Since 2007, relatives of over 180 more casualties have made contact and 150 have sent photos. The book also includes a number of Group photos and other photos not included in Neptune’s Legacy for lack of space. There will be a greatly enhanced section for those lost in HMS Kandahar and the stories from survivors who had to swim to HMS Jaguar. As before we intend to print and publish the book under the auspices of the Neptune Association.
